Difference between Catabolic vs Metabolic

Difference between Catabolic and Metabolic

In simple the terms Catabolic and Metabolic we can simply define that catabolic is one of the type of metabolic. Catabolic is one aspect whereas Metabolic is the combination of two aspects. Metabolic activities determine the life activities.

Metabolic:

The metabolism has two major functions. They are anabolism and metabolism. The catabolic process is the action of set of metabolic Pathways that break down molecules into smaller units that are either oxidized to release energy or use it in another anabolic reaction. Our bodies release certain metabolites. Basal metabolic rate is the minimum amount of calories required for basic functions at rest. In birds metabolic rate played in massive role for birds, while isolating mechanism like body hair or fat reserves had a prominent role in mammals.

Catabolic:

In catabolic, large molecules such as polysaccharides, lipids, nucleic acids and proteins are broken down into smaller units such as monosaccharides, fatty acids, and amino acids respectively. The nature of catabolic reactions varies from organism to organism and can be classified based on their sources of energy which are given below:

Organotrophs: use organic sources as a source of energy

Lithotrophs: use inorganic substrates

Phototrophs:  uses sunlight as chemical energy

Cellular Breathing, the degradation of fat in adipose tissue into fatty acids and the oxidative deamination by monoamine oxide  are the examples of catabolic process.

Catabolic and Metabolic

Difference between Catabolic and Metabolic:

Catabolic Metabolic
Catabolism is one of the type of metabolism Catabolic is one of the aspects whereas metabolism is collection of two aspects.
Catabolic process tends towards breaking down food into small monomers and using up this stored food to produce energy Metabolic process are likely to form repair and furnish the tissues and organs through producing as well as using the energy.
Energy is extracted or harvested in catabolism In metabolism it consumes as well as harvest energy.
When a person actively spends energy Catabolic rate is higher The rate is higher every time when both catabolic and anabolic takes place

Conclusion:

Metabolism is an extremely vital set-up biochemical reaction takes place sustaining the life of organisms. It is observed that the metabolic Pathways are similar in some of the distinct species. Which means potential of metabolic activity determine sustainability of life of a particular organism. Catabolism carries great importance in producing energy, the growth and development of cells of the organisms requires great amount of ATP and ATP requirement is fulfilled by the cellular respiration.
