The object which produces light is called luminous objects. they have the following characteristics:

  • Produces light,
  • Have their own light,
  • And are responsible for vision.

What are non-luminous objects?

The objects which are unable to produce light are called Non-luminous objects or illuminated objects They have the following characteristics:

  • Unable to produce light,
  • Does not possess own light,
  • These are visible due to luminous objects.

Examples of Luminous and Non-Luminous Objects

Examples of luminous objects are:

  • the sun
  • flame in a lamp
  • tube light
  • electric bulb

Examples of non-luminous objects are:

  • the earth
  • moon
  • a piece of cloth
  • coal

Definition
The objects that emit light energy by themselves are called luminous objects. The objects that do not emit light energy by themselves are called non-luminous objects.
Dependence
Luminous objects are seen on their own. Non-luminous objects can only be seen due to luminous objects.

Luminous objects can cause the sensation of light. Non- luminous objects do not cause the sensation of light.
